Yanyan Liao, Ph.D., Member of the Jiusan Society, Associate Professor at the Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation, Donghua University, Graduate Programme Supervisor. Council Member of the China Society of Industrial Economics; College of Reviewer Member of The Design Journal (A&HCI indexed, ranked 5/144 in international computer-aided design journals); Review Expert for the Textile Education and Management Expert Database of the China Textile and Apparel Education Society; Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Tsinghua Alumni Association (Shanghai Western Returned Scholars Association); Council Member of the Cultural and Creative Committee of the Shanghai Tsinghua Alumni Association; Member of the Youth Association of the Donghua University Association for Science and Technology. Deputy Director of the Baoshan District Culture and Tourism Bureau, Shanghai (on secondment).

Primary research areas include art and design history and theory, design research methodology, smart fashion, and cultural digitization. Principal investigator of the Shanghai Arts and Science Planning Project and the Central University Basic Research Fund Project. Recipient of the Second Prize in the Academic Paper Category of the “14th Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award”. Recognized as a Shanghai First-Class Undergraduate Course (Demonstrative Full-English Course) for “Art History”; Awarded “Outstanding Paper on China's Industrial Design Development in the Past Decade” by the China Industrial Design Association; Received Second Prize in the “Textile Light” Teaching Achievement Award for Higher Textile Education from the China National Textile and Apparel Council; Awarded Third Prize in Donghua University's Blended Innovative Teaching Competition, Donghua University Teaching Reform Exploration Award, and Donghua University First-Class Undergraduate Course (Demonstrative Full-English Course) honors. Published over 10 academic papers in Chinese and English (indexed in A&HCI, CSSCI, and EI; multiple reprinted in Renmin University's “Visual Arts” collection), with several books published. Conducts fully English-taught courses including Art History, Fashion History, Academic Writing, and Architectural History.
