Good News! College Research Wins the 17th Shanghai Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences


Recently, the list of awardees for the 17th Shanghai Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences (20222023) has been released.One Hundred Years of Chinese Silk Patterns, independently authored by Wen Run from the Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation, won the Second Prize in the category of Academic Works.

 

As one of the most prestigious honours in Shanghais philosophy and social sciences sector, this award recognizes outstanding achievements that have made remarkable contributions to academic research and social development.




One Hundred Years of Chinese Silk Patterns is a project under the Shanghai Key Book Publishing Program.

 

Adopting a distinctive research perspective, the book traces the evolution of Chinese silk patterns over the past century, with a particular focus on 20th-century design practices. Integrating findings from ancient silk art history and modern silk history, the book systematically examines the stylistic evolution of silk patterns in modern fashion through multi-dimensional perspectives of economic history, cultural history and design history. The work holds substantial academic value in advancing research on Chinese silk art, while also contributing to the creative transformation and innovative development of traditional culture.
