Dr Marianne Greated, Head of the Department of Art at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA), recently visited the Shanghai International College of Fashion and Creative Design (SCF) at Donghua University to discuss the future of international design education.

During her visit, SCF Dean Li Jun introduced the college’s achievements over the past eleven years in talent development, international cooperation, and the integration of industry with education. Dr. Greated expressed full appreciation for SCF’s accomplishments in cultivating globally minded professionals, advancing interdisciplinary teaching practices, and promoting innovative pedagogical approaches. She also praised the successful Sino-British collaborative education model established between Donghua University and the University of Edinburgh.

The discussions provided an opportunity for in-depth dialogue on further expanding international cooperation and joint educational initiatives. Following the formal exchange, Dr. Greated toured the Shanghai Museum of Textile and Costume and SCF’s design and art teaching facilities, gaining firsthand insight into the college’s creative learning environment.

This visit represents a significant step in deepening SCF’s engagement with leading international art institutions. It lays a solid foundation for enhanced interdisciplinary research, academic collaboration, and the continued internationalisation of art and fashion education.
